Got to buy a hydraulic front disc brake this week.What do I buy? Anti dive Scootrs, pm type anti dive, normal nissin caliper scootrs etc?
Really fancy the hidden master cylinder type but a couple of mates have had a few problems with them.
Never had a hydraulic on a scoot before and really need one, so recommendations appreciated.

Look at caspa2006 his looks nice but I`m not a lambretta expert. I know a few of the Liverpool lads have had the hidden type and have never heard of any problems. I guess its down to who fits the cylinder and brackets etc.

1000s of lambys flying about with them on..and yes I know Sef had a nasty experience with his lever..

The hidden (typhoon) set is is much more in keeping with the standard look but have heard its not as sharp..but that could be just pub talk..

no, it's only half hydraulic, so will always be relying on the cable's shortfalls... I think budget and looks are the deciding factors. The ScootRS is great for the money but the antidive is crap. The PM types work well but they do have some wheel and tyre fitment anomolies and look a bit like this...


I think the German LTH/Worb designs have the antidive/looks edge, the LTH use crap callipers but these can be changed to Nissin; however, they're not cheap to start with. The Worb "Dirty Sanchez", made by MMW, uses the same caliper as PM ie. the Vespa one and uses correct bearings in the right places, this will cost around £350.

So you pays yer money...

My hydraulic front disc has been handlebar mounted and is now hidden master, behind the horncast, it works perfect on both set ups, as Steve says it depends who fits the thing and sets it up as to how it will perform, I never fitted mine BTW and it's a grimeca MB one :bald:
Also mine does not have a "bracket" made by someone on the make, it is fixed by two bolts welded to the fork tube and cannot move, the cable adjuster if fixed to a piece of angle iron welded inline and above the cylinder to the forktube and this also cannot move. Maybe it's the brackets that are bolted to the tube via the horn mount bolt that is the problem some people are encountering with the hidden master cylinder and not the shortcomings of the cable because my set up works great

I reckon you need to go a long way to beat the standard ScootRs type..... no anti dive..... use Mb or Taffspeed fork springs.

Scootrs and Spaq ones are pretty similar except the hub is pressure cast on the rs and sand cast on the Spaq. Never heard of a Spaq one breaking but the pressure cast is better finished. Both use Nissin master cylinders and calipers.
