won`t start when hot

sorry chaps but i`m asking for my brother, when we`ve been out for a ride and stopped when he tries to re-start it it takes age`s to get it going again,it runs sweet as a nut,plug b7 changes to b8 for motorway, changed plug cap/ht lead went to whitby ok, came home then its reared its ugly head again he turns petrol off when stopped and only turns it back on when it fires up was thinking about looking at floats in carb to see if it keeps flooding its a 22mm delly

Sounds like its the fuel level (Too high) in the carb making it rich once its hot and trying to re-start it. I would guess at float needle being worn or dirt in the needle valve seat if its not damaged or worn...

I had this on one of mine it was the fuel thats left in the pipe drains past the float needle, then raising the fuel level and flooding the engine when its kicked, this is noticed more once its hot, as its worse to start.... When its cold it makes starting less of a problem as you normally richen the carb to start the engine.

I fitted a new float needle and also cleaned the carb with carb cleaner and used a cotton bud on the needle valve seat, this was covered in carb cleaner and it cured the problem on mine

Is your brother running a hosed upright filter by anychance..?

yes standard filter into air box, i might know were your going on this,is it about the fuel holding in the rubber elbow then draining back into the carb

Not sure it could happen with standard bellows but certainly becomes an issue with ram air/breath sweet and the like...was a prob with mine but not anymore..
