I have an original AC (non battery) electronic stator which does not work.

I have checked it with a meter using sticky's book as a guide and it fails the first test, measuring between green (as it is original) and stator backing plate - no short circuit ie less than 0.1 ohm.

The other two tests are there or there abouts correct. Trouble is I know its failed but the book doesn't tell me what the problem is.

I'm guessing that only the pick up and the LT coil make the ignition work and it's not beyond me to change both if required, the Indian stators I have have HT coils with a larger inside hole, ie more plates/laminates on the stator, fitting one lke this would be difficult it would be very loose.

If you could help:

!. Am I looking in the right place?

2. Can you get new LT coils with the correct inside dimentions?

3. Can I take an original LT coil of a points system and use that as a replacement?

Thanks for any help.

If it's an original Italian electronic there is no stator earth connection for the ignition coil or pick up, so your green to stator earth reading is correct (all ignition wires are isolated from the stator backplate).
