Centralising a ScootRS disc brake.

I've got an early type scootRS (not sterling) disc brake, its a very early one that i bought from them about five or six years ago. When fitted it won't sit centrally in the fork which i'm led to believe was a problem on the early discs from them. This leaves the front wheel out of line with the back wheel in a straight line and can cause some interesting riding if you encounter lines in the road or something.
I think i read somewhere that you can rectify this problem, but you need to email Randall with your invoice number (long since lost) for him to tell you how to do it.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of the fix?

I don't think I've ever fitted a hydraulic front end that didn't need some faffing about to sit centrally...
there's no great engineering secret to it...
It's just a question of adding washers, or using a different height nut on the LH, or making spacers up until you're happy. it is bit of a chore to keep putting it back together and taking it apart, but worthwhile...

I think that i heard somewhere that a innocenti disc spindle helps to cure this, know anything about that?

I've just sold my other bike which had a late type scootRS disc on it and it was fine, i wish i'd had a look to see what the difference was before i let it go!!

Yes I had to replace mine with a "italian" one .

The shoulder on the RS version was not thick enough to stand proud of the recess in the hub.

The net result was that when i tightened it in the forks the clamping action against the fork links locked up the hub.

Unfortunately this will not help the alignment but does make it work ;)

As Byron says fettling with spacers/washers will solve it

The cure is to either change the stainless caliper plate to later version or machine the old one putting a rebate around the link peg cut out and a rebate around the axle hole to take a disc axle .This allows the hub to move over to the throttle side fork leg .
