boggy !
Hi all ! ive decided to ditch the ramair filter thats on my mugello 186 (26mm dell,jl3) and run open mouthed, ive upjetted the main jet and all seems pretty good,performance,plug colour etc but it seems to be a bit boggy on low revs and at take off ! any advice on fine tuning this ?

How big a ram-air was it? I used to run my Imola open mouthed and it was a little rich, I put a big ram-air on expecting it to be even richer and discovered it was actually leaner with the filter (must be something to do with airflow I guess). I like to be on the rich side so just dropped my oil ratio a little. You may get good results just by increasing the oil a bit, worth a try anyway. I've no experience with Mugello's but if its anything like an Imola it don't like low revs really when it's set up right, my next buy is an Augusto to hopefully clear that bottom end a bit.
Some after Market filters can disturbe the air at low throttle openings causing the carb to lean off, I've seen this on a Dyno when just a filter was added and on the road when jetting scooters, the PHBH seems to weaken off with some filters but only on low throttle.
I think the rubber rim it's intrusion into the air flow infront of the bottom of the bell mouth that the foam is glued to is part of the problem.

or maybe the otherway....now that the filter is removed and the carb is getting more air ..a bigger pilot is needed and maybe raise the needle a notch ....or two... 
you may also need to change the diffuser to the next richest one.
if it was running fine with the filter on and was jetted and set up to suit,then by removing the filter it would cause it to be weak...hence the need to richen things up

Would it be worth adjusting the air/mix screw to begin with ?
