the clutch on the jet has started to slip a bit at about 45-50mph,
is there a quick fix with cable adjustment or will it be the plates that are cooked??

You should have about a 1/4 inch free play at the lever before inner cable starts to move, any less and you will probably get 'slip'. If this is correct then probably will need to rplace friction plates.............
You don't say how many plates in clutch.....4,5,6??? and if four normal corks ....are they the Indian ones which wear out faster............
