I have this disc and another one downloaded from scooterhelp, and i prefer to use the scooterhelp one because is smaller, and i know that BTDC must go anticlockwiseDazza wrote:Are you using the MB Timing Disc?
Is it me being a thickoor is this misleading:
I fell foult o it the other month marking my BTDC clockwise to TDC because of this disc (schoolboy error I know but...)
Cant turn the stator more than 25º!

Hi again.
Seems like i have the wrong flywheel.
Watching the Sticky book pag 109 seems like i have the keyway positioned anti-clockwise of the rivet.
Someone can confirm this?
The flywheel is an ELEMEC one and i dont know if is diferent to a SIL one.
Thanks!!!

Keeping it basic.
The TDC mark this is where the piston is at the top of it's stroke.
The 18 degree timing mark needs to be made to the left of this point on the mag housing at about (from memory) 26 mm distance.
If your timing marks are not set similar to this then somthing is amiss.
I know one of my flywheels in the past was set so that the ignition fired at 1 1/8 of an inch about 27mm BTDC.
Hope this helps.

Then i use the degree disk and mark the 18º to the left (anti-clockwise). I dont know now the distance in mm but can see tomorrow.
Thanks.
From the pics it does appear that you have a points boss fitted, if it is then it will be the problem. Are you sure it was supplied by MB?

MB welded a batch of about 20 flywheels for scooter center a few months ago. MB only ever buy in SIL flywheels.ArKaTxU wrote:Scootercenter, MB parts distributor.firekdp wrote:From the pics it does appear that you have a points boss fitted, if it is then it will be the problem. I am very sorry for the confusion that this might have caused anyone. I asked for bitza on a local shop that sells vespa parts from ScooterCenter. Possibly when I asked them for this item with a reference number got them confused.

These are now the flywheels coming from AF, we cant get them anywhere else, this goes back at least 5 years, they were crap with no timing
marks etc, they look ok but from memory were hard to set the timing, I think this info is in our MBD site.
If its all thats available then you may have to file the stator slots or redrill and tap some more stator screw holes
