Is there really that much of a difference performance wise? I'll tell you what's prompted me to think about this. My little GP150 struggles and runs out of steam at much over 45 MPH. It is currently fitted with a big bore Clubman and you know, I just get the feeling it's struggling to put a bit of whuumph in it. Not very scientific, but there is a principle lurking behind it I know. I'm wondering if a smaller exhaust with a bit more back pressure would enable it to perform better? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just try it?
I had a standard on a 200 top end it and was pretty good, 60-ish, I've now got another 200 and its got a reverse cone and reamed jetex, fun getting to top but I would say not much better top speed wise, maybe 10-15%

I added a KBA clubman to my 150 instead of the standard a while ago now.
Slight upjet and it was like a different machine.
Lot more 'guts' and a slight improvement top end.
What gearbox are you using ?

GP200, so that should make it the same as an LI150. As a layman I can't always put these things in technical terms, but you know generally speaking you hear all this talk of power bands, and I know that if you put an uprated exhaust on then it sort of moves up the scale. If there is a power band on mine I never seem to get to it, and that's possibly as a result of the way that I ride. Or just the set up. I don't know. Just thinking it might be too far up there and maybe I could bring it down with a standard exhaust. Alternately the gearing is to tall or I need more power Captain.
i took a standard pipe off of a li125 special and fitted an ancilotti and it totally liberated it adding 5 - 10 mph to the top speed

Know what you're saying. So, basically I suppose I ought to be looking at why it isn't developing the power. Or maybe I am just expecting too much.
i had a standard GP150 that flew! (well, for a GP150 it did!) just an indian GP 150 top end from scooter restorations, a clubman, and a 26 mil reemed out jetex. it had a LI 150 italian gearbox, 15x46 cogs. indian gp gearboxes have a big jump from 3rd-4th. the one i had was lovely to ride, and did over 60mph. its probly your gearing. you can get a new gp150 top end for about 60-70 quid. bargain. look at your gearing first. or maybeeze your barrel is worn out? are you particularly fat?

Amply proportioned. But yeah, I know what you mean.
Thanks for all the input, but whatever it is it can wait. I'm having a new toy next week.
