I am thinking about buying a set of repro legshields and headset for my 150 special.

The repro parts are for a non chrome ring model.

Will the parts be a good fit, if I remove the chrome ring from my frame?

Thanks
Nick

If you actually get a headset bottom for an LI 150 Special it would be for a chrome ring frame. If you get the later SX style headset bottom it will be for a non-chrome ring frame. Legshields are the same for both if I am not mistaken. Bottom line is that you will have a pretty unsightly gap if you use the shorter headset bottom. Also I think that your steering lock wouldn't work if that matters to you. Lastly, I think that you need to check that you have the correct horncast, but I am not an expert on all the differences.

Oops, I can see now that you are looking at getting non-chrome ring parts. I still think that the steering lock probably won't work, and the horncast may be an issue.

Chrome ring legshields are different( not flared at the top where they meet the headset). Ideally you need a headset/ legshields/fork combo. Chrome ring frames don't have the welded'stop' on the frame tube just below the back of the headset so no way to lock the scoot without the chrome ring.

Forks? How are they different?

I would guess that the horncasting is a different length too but that is just a guess.

horncastings for chrome ring and non chrome ring have only very minor differences, and are the same length, both will fit OK
Keep on keepin on
