Give racing a go on a budget
I retired from scooter racing a few years ago but because of a mid life crisis
I decided it would like to come out and play again. I only wanted to play as I call it I did not want to spend to much on this project. So what could I do to make this happen without spending the big bucks to get on track and be competitive. I looked at the newly formed 6a group which is for up to 250cc special autos, for bikes like the Gilera Runner . I looked around and found myself a runner with a 172 kit on 25 mm carb and pipe and with a few saftey mods i was back on track , the bike and mods joining the BSSO and my ACU licence ive spent less than £1500 . I think very good value for money and if you want to get out there and race this is this a new group with lots of potential so come on do it !!!! After my first races yesterday I want to do a few little things but nothing to drastic or expensive.

He's doing rather well. An when he puts his helmet on you car'nt tell how old he is.
I suppose I should give you an update on how the year went. After the first meeting I thought with a bit of work I could maybe win the group ,a feat I never achieved in my previous racing career but the group I chose then had one of racing all time greats in it.(thats my excuse anyway) So back to the runner back to Kegra for a bit of tuning ,34mm carb from E bay ,v force reed with opened crankcases to suit, and I now have a much quicker machine only thing is others have been playing as well.Top speeed wise theres not a lot in it but Eddy Goodes is still getting away from me , so back to the drawing board to find some more forward motion juice . I now have a bike that is a least equal to most in the small class , and as things turn out my main rival cant make all the meetings so I win the inaugural year of the new 6a auto group.Ive driven up and down the country , had some great races some with riders from other classes but still good fun, meet some new friends and had a ball and not spent a packet.Go on give it a go!
