Hi , I'm fitting a digital speedo to my series 1 and need some info on a few things:-

1.Running a Vespa regulator with a trickle charge connection , what ampage battery would I need?

2.The speedo suppose to run through an ignition , which I haven't got . Can I use an inline switch?

3. Do I need to run an inline fuse from the battery?

Cheers in advance ,

Lee .

Eden is it the sealed one for £31.99?

What size fuses should I use?

I'm hoping to run a fuel sender in the future , would I need a more powerful battery?

Thanks again

Don't buy from Maplin, they're a ripoff, go to an electrical wholesaler, they're burglar alarm batteries at a fraction of the price ;-)

im doing the same but instad of a switch im using a relay so that once the engine is running it comes on on its own

koso do a bridge rectifier that you wire in line if you dont want to have to mount a battery

or if you want to avoid the exposed terminals then this type are good if you can find one

Cheers for the help

Cezeta , what do you power the relay from?

sounds like a better idea than my switch!

Eden , ordered that battery , lot cheaper than Maplins , thanks .

you want an ac relay and just take the supply from anywhere from the rectifier onwards so you could mount it behind the front light and connect to the wire that comes from the regulator to the junction box/board that then powers the lights. so as soon as you fire it up the relay is powered and on comes the speedo.

i cut my speedo into the original speedo face then fitted leds to the sides so they shine through around the speedo when i go on reserve with a cam lam fuel switch.

ive yet to fit the sender.......dexian shelving and rivets spring toi mind :?

Had a good look at the instructions but no sign of any mention of fuses,
Just says wire into 12vDC, i,ve got a couple of inline fuse holders, shall i still use them?

Like the relay idea,
I fitted my speedo into the old one too, haven't got fancy led's though!

Cezeta where did you get the 12v AC relay , googled it but only finding 12v DC ones!!

these will do, solder direct to the pins. they are a bit bulky so if you can find smaller ones it would be better
