Just pointing out the pros AND cons really Doom, no problem ;-)

I think they are a really good stator but just need improving to do what they say on the tin, it is possible, as has been proved. In future I'd get hold of a knackered SIL stator and have it rewound, it wouldn't cost much more, and you'd have more than enough power.

it wont make a difference what the stator puts out 120w or more you will only get out what the regulator is built for.
a 80w will give you 80w etc . if they made a 120w reg then it'd be worth buying a 120w stator . thats the idea of a regulator to regulate the power output of the stator .

A regulator will dump unused power by way of heat, If you have a 120 watt stator and your only using 40 watts then your 80 watt regulator will dump the excess with ease, but will cope with more, that's how it regulates. I use a 150 watt DC regulator.

Forgot to post here.

I have the 120 watt BGM stator that actually outputs 90 watts from what I gather. I have a regulator that is rated for 225 watts max. The total wattage draw for my headlight, tail light, and horn will likely be less than 90 watts. So, my stator outputs enough wattage to do what I want, and my regulator will handle the stator output. I'm good.

So if the 120watt BGM stator only puts out 90w, what does the 80 watt one put out ?
win or lose have a booze
