I have a 120 watt BGM stator and one of those small 12 volt CEAB regulators. I have had no problems running a SIL stator with the 12 volt CEAB regulator on a different bike, but I think that SIL stators only go for 80 watts. Does anyone think that there will be a problem using the 120 watt BGM stator and the 12 volt CEAB regulator?
The bike is non-battery and the CEAB regulator is one of those 1 inch square / cube type. The regulator is the 3-pole type, but not as big as the Ducati ones with the cast metal and fins. The CEAB regulator that I have doesn't have a label saying anything about wattage.

The only problem I can see is that the 120watt BGM will only put out about 90 watts, other than that you should be fine.

Hmmm... Not sure why that would be the case, but I just found info that tells me that the regulator is rated up to 225 watts. I just only have headlights, horn, and tail lights, so I am good.soulsurfer wrote:The only problem I can see is that the 120watt BGM will only put out about 90 watts, other than that you should be fine.

Because it isn't wound correctly to give 120 watts. It is possible if rewound correctly, but why would you want to do that to the brand new 120 watt stator that you've just paid for

Didn't realize that. No matter anyway because 90 watts is plenty.
Not if you expect 120w

Right on. I guess that I paid $1.00 USD per watt more for the 120 watt BGM stator versus the 80 watt version. That is if the 80 watt version actually puts out 80 watts.
Wouldn't be any less would it?

It's ironic really. I remember when these new 120w BGM stators came out and while they were obviously good quality people were flapping about them blowing up the regulator and the scooter exploding in a burning fireball. Well, perhaps not that last bit.
But while they might not produce the advertised 120w they are less problematic than a lot of people imagined and a lot of scooterists may be sleeping more comfortably in their beds now.

Yes quality is good but if you buy one , as I did and Mark did, expecting it to give you 120watts of power for additional or upgraded lighting, then you are sadly mistaken, just the facts.

Hey, I'm not disputing it. I would say the lights using my BGM stator are probably no better than they were when I was using a SIL stator. I know you've got an issue with this, but I was only making an observation.
