Then the slide would stay in place a little longer, till the Areldite fell out. My mate was flown home from Italy when his broke, his scooter followed about a month later.

Another way was to tap a thread the side of the carb where the slide stay should be, then fit a bolt into it with the end filed and smoothed to replicate the slide locater, a nut was done up onto the bolt from the out side, this was to stop it unscrewing and all was then loctited.

One lad ran his like this for a couple of years, till he got another new carb body because the slide had worn a groove into the body probably cus there was no filter on it...

I dont believe there still made, but they do turn up at Bike shows like the Stafford bike Show, most are four stroke, but they are so easy to convert to two stroke. Ive bought three NOS carb bodies in the last 6-7 years, very cheap too. :)

http://www.amalcarb.co.uk/ProductDetail ... 9jUDZ3PT0= more carb for your money I'd say. yeah manufacture switched to Spain, i've got a couple of bodies "Made in Spain"
hopefully I've fixed my stator [bit late to test it out now], so will see if i can get time to fit the Amal before the weekend.

@byron: thanks for the link ! seems only available as a kit ... but ok, for the sake of convenience... but available in different specifications .... now what do the different sizes in mm refer to ? no idea what would be suitable.. any idea ?

otherwise agree with what most people say here, that´s why I swapped back from mikuni to amal. from my own personal seat of the pants feeling I can´t say that mikunis offer more performance... a dyno comparison should be interesting. the major disadvantage of the amal carb is its sheer bulk, making it rather difficult to fit under panels and stressing the rubber mounting.still, a lot of bang for the buck... and they look the part too..

And the whacking great heavy weighted "Chromed Brass Slide" that makes the Amal carb add up to about half the overall weight of your scooter. but if you dare to use the standard teflon one, and ride in the wet the slide sometimes sticks.
