Hi guys

I'm thinking of buying a Rapido 225 race kit.

I'll be running a 30 mil PH/BH and PM.

Any advice on this kit would be a great help.

Engine is sound at mo, I'm running a stage 4 2oo which is a really good performer but prone at times to nipping up.

Is the Rapido worth the extra cost for the gains I'll get back and what sort of tidying up if any does the kit need and the usual question of what sort of performance can I reasonably expect from this kit using my current carb and pipe?

Many, many thanks for any advice.

I like my rapido, I had one go tits up last year when the rings snagged on the exhaust port but I mainly put that down to the cheaper escorts/mahle piston fitted , the kit is cheap enough so I replaced it with another and still running it in but so far so good...

If you get one make sure you at least fit an asso piston or go that bit further and treat yourself to a racetour, get the bore clearance checked and you should get great service from it.

Quite a lot of torque and when run in I expect it to do around 70.
I have a mikuni and jl3 fitted but I don't see any problems with the carb and exhaust you intend to fit.

In my opinion a good kit for the money.
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....

Thx mate, what gearing are you running? My current set-up will do 70+ but like I say is prone to nipping up.

I'm hoping the ally sleeving will ease ths.

Do you think these kits offer much additional cooling over a full cast iron barrel?

THE RACE VERSION HAS VERY BIG PORT TIMINGS THE CLASSIC IS BETTER ID SAY, ALTHO IVE ONLY HAD THE 200 VERSIONS, A GOOD KIT WOULD BE A CYLINDER ON ITS OWN AND A QUALITY PISTON SAY AN MB THEN GET THEM TO PROFILE A HEAD TO SUIT AND CHECK THE BORE CLEARANCE I RECONE THIS WOULD BE A VERY GOOD COMBINATION FOR SPEED AND RELIABILITY THEY MAY ALSO TWEEK THE PORTS FOR MORE POWER BUT NOT AS WILD AS THE RACE VERSION .... BUT BEFORE YOU JUMP IN RING AS MANY DEALERS AS YOU CAN FOR ADVICE, KITS, VARIANTS , LEVEL OF SERVICE, PRICE AND AVAILIBILITY .
ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED REPLAY SCOOTERS,HARRY BARLOW AT PRO PORTING ,MBD,CHISELSPEED THESE ARE THE SORT OF PEOPLE YOU SHOULD CONTACT AVOID THE BOLT ON MERCHANTS THA TDONT EVEN KNOW THERES DIFFERANT THICKNESS BASE GASKETS  AND JUST SLAP IT ON ,ALSO TRY AND KEEP THINGS ON PAPER AS TO WHO SAID WHAT OR FINALISE THINGS BY EMAIL OR A LETTER THAT WAY IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS YOU HAVE SOME PROOF AS TO WHO SAID WHAT IF YOU SHOULD NEED IT ;)

i agree with shocky

my brothers rapido 225 pulled 17 46 on an li box with a 24mm mikuni and a clubman, producing 16 bhp and 13 lb of torque

he used an mb piston and unleaded head

it was so good that i bought it off of him and will run it as a 230 with a 60mm crank and yam rod.

with a pipe and bigger carb then it will keep pace with a standard ts1. the indian stage 4 is probably 10bhp or 13bhp with pipe and carb to make a comparison

Why is the stage 4 nipping up? Should be fine.Ive been running a genuine stage 4 since 02 and its reliable as.Had it setup on dyno and been fine ever since.Maybe your bore clearence not good or something else not quite right but i`d invest in getting that right.I run a 28 VHST and a PM and at presant a JL3 curly and give it a real caning aswel.

ive run a race rapido with 30mm phbh and an old micron expansion pipe. started on standard sx200 gearing but was too tall and would not pull 4th, changed to an li150 box and the kit came to life although you had to ride it hard, could mix it with the ts1 boys.

i dont doubt it, my brother had the same from his honda 205 too, that was prone to siezing too though

what spec is that, they are only rated at 11 or twelve at the crank. have you had any joy with the ebay ali kits?
