I had those and they seemed to loosen and allow the flange to blow, but it's tightening hi tensile bolts into ally that I wasn't too keen on, especially if removing the manifold all the time to stop it leakingSpecial X wrote:Taffs (or rather the guys who took over the shop) sell wire lockable allen bolts which are a great idea as there's no stud to come loose.

i just like the fact that shocky puts his engine to bed in a pink blanket.. ahhhh!
you gota look after your engine this was a home brew ts 240 it vibrated itself to death(after10k miles) the drive side bearing journal went oval and a large crack formedlofty wrote:i just like the fact that shocky puts his engine to bed in a pink blanket.. ahhhh!

We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm
don't say that I've just fitted a pair of Taffy bolts.......took me ages to lockwire them too....thought that this would be the answer and I'd never have to lay down under the engine with an 11mm spanner ever again?soulsurfer wrote:I had those and they seemed to loosen and allow the flange to blow, but it's tightening hi tensile bolts into ally that I wasn't too keen on, especially if removing the manifold all the time to stop it leakingSpecial X wrote:Taffs (or rather the guys who took over the shop) sell wire lockable allen bolts which are a great idea as there's no stud to come loose.

If you require any of these pm me
try washers called"nordlock"...i use them...basically they are two ratchet style washers that sit back to back,a good engineering suppliers should stock them if you dont go the lockwire or tabwasher route
