A 48 vs a 50 pilot isn't going to cause your problem Jaime.

My monies on :-

1) Fuel tap not delivering sufficient flow
2) Petrol cap not vented properly
3) fuel inlet on carb blocked/ gunged up

Have a look at that area before you throw your toys out of the pram and start taking the piston out again :D :D

Oh, and what do you boys say about the mushroom baffle? Do you think that has anything to do with it? Since I took it off, it suposedly is going to be less restrictive... You think I need a bigger jet?

worry about that later- I'd only up the main to a 108 from the current 106 anyway

After 7 long hours and my whole body smelling like a Repsol station, I finally gave up.

1-Cleaned up the fuel tap which had junk in there from the times of Franco.
2-Totally dismanteled the carb and cleaned it throughly.
3-Fitted a new petrol cap.

Tested it. Same old same old. Nothing changed.

4-Took carb off.
5-Took a spare 20mm carb and fitted cleaned it through. Swapped jets.

Tested it. Worse. It was only running with the choke on.

Back on original carb body. Upped the idle a bit and that kept her going for a whole ride without stopping but once or twice. After 7 hours of fiddling I just called it a night...

Any ideas?

I did fitted an electronic ignition, do you think that might have anything to do with it?

may seem like stating the obvious but when you clean carb are you cleaning idle jet thoroughly, ie; poke a strand of copper wire thru bottom hole.and are you using fresh fuel from a good garage. also try removing the rubber air intake elbow just to check for petrol spitting back out . is your timing correct, and does bike apear to run ok apart from cutting out at idle? sounds like its deffo a idle jet/fuel supply issue. if it will run on the choke and not without then its idle jet fault and not supply fault.if none of the above fixes it then i be double checkin for air leaks on intake and base gasket

I don't use petrol to clean the carb, I use spray cleaner. I did the coppe wire thing through the main jet, no joy.. Will try the copper wire through all the carb again, then I will just take the cylinder off...

Timing is dead on 19... unless the indian flywheel is fuked up, which could be... The engine does lack a bit of power, at first sight I thought it was an issue with the motor being runned in, but no joy, it just doesn't go over 50mph..

Many thanks for your interest and help boys. Will be back with more news tonight.

1 Dos it start ok from cold with the choke in use ?
2 once warm with the choke off will it tick over ok before you drive off ?
3 Will it only cut out when you roll off to tick over ( like pulling up) or will it falter whilst riding along at a constant rate say 40 mph before you roll of ?
4 If it ticks over ok as per question 2 if you rev it up do the revs return to tick over ok ,or will the engine revs stay
high then slowly return to tick over ?

the more info you supply the better the diagnosis !
info.
The pilot jet on the dellorto has drillings in two directions , large hole across fom side to side , a small calibrated hole going in from top going into big hole. ( check that bit is clear.)
