My mate was posted to Cyprus with the RAF, I helped them out a fair bit before they left with storage etc etc.
Once there he searched for scooters to buy eventually dropping on a deal of the century.......
For £1000 he bought.......
The original Jet200,
Cyprus restored SX150,
Cyprus restored Cento 100,
Cyprus restored Vespa 100.
He loaded the scoots onto a pallet at Akrotiri and by the international bartering currency of a slab of beer he had them shipped back to RAF Lyneham on an RAF Hercules.
I paid the Import charges for all 4 Scoots which came to £40, (We valued them very low!!) I then stored the SX and Vespa until they returned to the UK and sold the Cento on Ebay for £800. The Jet was mine to keep!
Did he get them from a bloke on the back road to Limassol? and were they blue and yellow (all the ones he did were those colours) I got a Jet that had been cut a bit from some old geezer and a very late italian GP that had been abandoned when the island was invaded. I ended up short touring and had to leave them behind, a few years later got chatting to a bloke at Rhyl new years party (about his afro wig) turns out he was my replacement on the squadron and ended up owning the scoots as well. dont know if they ever got brought back

Yeah I think me may have done!
The SX was metallic purple and white, the cento white and the V100 the worst colours ever........lemon yellow and lime! I'll post a pic to show it in all it's citrus glory!
