I intend to make a batch of choke cables that will be adjustable in length for a variety of different carbs to compliment my existing range of choke and brake cables.

I've picked up some in-line cable adjusters which are fit-for-purpose, but they are plain steel and will rust. What coating could I have applied to them that won't foul-up the fine thread on the adjuster?

Yes, I am aware that grease does a pretty good job, but what are my other options? I am in deepest Suffolk, but these adjusters are post-able.

Are there zinc platers who do small batches of stuff?

Try ringing round the place I use barrel plate them instead of wiring them together so can do small amounts.

Don't know how it is in the UK but here most local electroplating companies will zinc a small box worth of scooter bits for beer change. Turn up with cash, tell them you don't need a receipt and chances are they'll throw it with a larger order and divvy up the cash for Friday afternoon beers--well, at least in my experience :D

I was searching google last night for "electroplating Ipswich" and it kept giving me an electroplater at Ipswich, Queensland. The annoying thing is, I was in Brisbane last month.

I'll try and find the Beccles place, though I have heard of another plater nearer me at Woodbridge.

Talk to Steve (Shocky) who can get zinc plating done cheap and double quick. We both use the same platers in Cheltenham. But he is more local than I am.

Interesting, but not really cost effective for a dozen adjusters. Perhaps it will be of interest to someone else.
