So if the majority on here were offered either a SX casing or a TV casing without an endlplate and had no access to the machinery necessary to check trueness, they would turn them down? Somehow, I don't think so.

No, but you need to find an end plate that works with your case...that's all....

If you have noticed the Innocenti end plates all have a large reference number (part of the casting in a circle) on them. At least the earlier ones are. These are not just interchangeable!

EG. Rebuilding a small block case, I swapped an end-plate with a '5' for one with a '3'. The original box to the case would not turn. New mainshaft bearing in the '5' and all was ok. Tried the '5' end-plate on the '3' gearbox and case just to be sure I wasn't goin insane: same thing.

PS the '5' case has "F5" stamped into the left (mag) mount lug: looks from the factory.

Moral of the story: don't keep end-plates in one corner of the shed and cases in the other, tie em together...Injun or Innocenti + the rest ;)

There is a bad habit of the shops here in Spain to completely part the motors and stack the parts from each individually along with all the others. Mechanics here didn't know about this factory matching and trying to convince an old lambretta mechanic that he is doing something "differently" of how it is supposed to be done.. specially by a 30 year old kid.. its quite a hard task. I have had several casings that had the problem of the "unknown endlplate" still I would find it extremely hard to see the difference at mere eyesight...

P.S: Mr. Lopez, Mr. Devlin sends you his regards by the way. How is your broken leg after the 1000 mile ride?

Nice to see Rob getting about a bit. America isn't everything...
Broken leg? 1000 mile ride? Last good run was to Boston and back 1700 miles or so, no probs 'cept for a burn out clutch from taking two girls three up, up a hill for titty shots:)

Well, it would appear I may have to do some plate/case matching, as I am guilty of the above of seperating motors down to there variuos pieces.
A. 'cause I am a Lopez,
B. 'cause I would be an old fart mechanic that you speak of, bloody whipper snapper.

Still, when all is said and done, I won't be turning down good cases because they don't have an endplate with them.
