I've never liked the split pin connections on the oe petrol rod/tap joins and have used UJs from model boats to get round issues with carbs being in the way.
Fitted another one of these today, and, as usual, had to reduce the diameter of the tap rod to fit the connector, the other option is to thread the rod.
And, once again, I bought up all the local model shop's supply of 6mm connectors...
So to make something that would fit the UJ without having to do anything to the tap rod would be welcome. It's a slight chore doing that in-situ too.

the brass bits are a splined push fit on the plastic UJ
the one on the left is M6 threaded, the other has a tiny grub screw, that I generally position in the remains of the split pin hole on the tap rod.
