rui,i can see that yours is colour code in the picture but i cant remember any of the gp's that i owned (into 100's in the early seventies)ever having any other colour than black on all gp models and colour variants the later gp grills ,horn, frame louvre became plastic in black, are you sure the scooter hhas not been painted because(time faded)it does not look like ocre too yellowish,Rui wrote:Thank you for the nice comment, why I left the grill yellow (I called it ochre) is because it should be that colour.joespeed wrote:thats a very nice restoration .the gp is still a good looking scooter, why did you paint the frame grill yellow it would look nicer in black!

Earlier GPs had metal horn and rear frame grills, front painted black rear painted to match frame. My J plate gp had black plastic grills front and back.joespeed wrote:rui,i can see that yours is colour code in the picture but i cant remember any of the gp's that i owned (into 100's in the early seventies)ever having any other colour than black on all gp models and colour variants the later gp grills ,horn, frame louvre became plastic in black, are you sure the scooter hhas not been painted because(time faded)it does not look like ocre too yellowish,Rui wrote:Thank you for the nice comment, why I left the grill yellow (I called it ochre) is because it should be that colour.joespeed wrote:thats a very nice restoration .the gp is still a good looking scooter, why did you paint the frame grill yellow it would look nicer in black!

As an asside, I 'liberated' a metal horn grill from a brand new, out of the box Indian GP in the 80s. That grill is on my old GP Infected, that Shade's from Redcar now has.

Looking through my pics of the Dl200 there are a few with Ochre rear grill and ochre horn grill, my own scooter had the black grill which was in the tool box.
