schwalbe power track tyres
I have powertrack on the rear and Raceman on the front for 18 months now did Sweden Towing a trailer with a powertrack on it about 3000 miles. IMO this gives fantastic grip in the wet and dry came down woodhead after Lincoln with the roads flooded and still not one bit of oversteer the confidence this tyre gives is phenomenal. :baddevil:

Is this why Mark brought out the packer washers for the rear with wide rim 100/90 out Mouse.? I know with mine which I run wide rim 100/90 on the rear it has clearance from the engine case even sat on it theres a gap...but after brid in oct I noticed it had rubbed as it had black marks on the casing albiet faint but there there. so the warm tyre expanding thoery holds up on that...gonna get your spacers to sort..mouse wrote:we don't advise using 100/90 tyres on wide rims, you can use a 3.50 on a wide rim or a 100/90 on a standard rim but you should be very careful using 100/90 on wide rims, remember the tyre expands when it gets warm!

If you sit on it, surely the tyre will bulge at the bottom, not at the side where it'd rub the casingLam46 wrote:I know with mine which I run wide rim 100/90 on the rear it has clearance from the engine case even sat on it theres a gap...

the bulge depends on the amount of food Ive eat that week..
No, yes it does buldge at the bottom just that after brid I stripped it and noticed it had what I can only call skidmarks..
on the casing which after reading what mouse said I would say could well be very warm tyres expanding at all areas and causing rubbing on the casing...I think theres a thoery around about heat in tyres expanding the air or something like that which would explain my skidmarks.
on the casing..

3 Sisters gives me skidmarks.

100:90x10 tyres are wider than a 350:10 tyre by roughly 5mm per side!
Fit these with wide rims and it doesnt help the problem. Casings,
layshafts, rear hubs, cones and washers all vary, so one bike may work
perfect and another may rub. Even ones that fit perfect may well give
skid marks! For those of you who think the tyre will bulge only at the
bottom are wrong. Imagine at speed under compression the tyre will
deform and send that bulge around the whole tyre....... ever seen in
slow motion a bike on the TT! This is where the skid marks will appear
on a normally fitted tyre! Yes Mark made the extra thick rear hub
cones and washers to help solve the problem, you could equally double
up cone washers, add washers before the rim is fitted etc,
Or as Mark has done grind away the casing where the skid marks are!
Just make them fit, the advantages usually out weight the very minor
problems. Ok these mods may put the tyre center line out
but in practice it works fine!

That seems like a simple solution Mouse..As the marks are only faint wouldnt take to much effort to reduce the alloy on the inside of the casing. If its good enough for MrB its good enough for me..mouse wrote:Or as Mark has done grind away the casing where the skid marks are!

don't forget to keep the filings from the casing if its italian, they will be worth £££££'s on ebay, some numpty will buy them stick them on an indian casing and tell everyone its italian      :biggrin:Lam46 wrote:That seems like a simple solution Mouse..As the marks are only faint wouldnt take to much effort to reduce the alloy on the inside of the casing. If its good enough for MrB its good enough for me..mouse wrote:Or as Mark has done grind away the casing where the skid marks are!
