I'm running two of these, there three phase dc as said Reedspeed/electixworld. Mines been reliable on the GP up to now. I still havnt checked the actual output but I would guess it's a genuine 180 watts plus. Fits very well the pickup is under cover even though it's external. On mine there is a very good ignition spark from low revs.

I was chatting with Ian Frankland about these at Peanut Duck.

He had very favourable things to say about the weight of the flywheel, especially the way that the weight is distributed around the flywheel (i.e around the outside of the wheel).

We also discussed the fitment of an anti-cavitation ring to the inside of the flywheel cover in order to promote a better flow of cool air. I don't recall whether we discussed this in relation to this ignition kit, but looking at the fins, it might be a consideration.

Do you get cavitation when pumping air?

Probably because they both use stators off far eastern machines (hopefully Japanese).

Although some times you need a bit more power, don't forget that unlike an alternator these will be kicking out that power whether you are using it or not. So when you are not using the 200-240W you will be using more fuel to produce electricity that is just dumped as heat. A bit like driving around in a car with the air con on and all the windows open.
That's an interesting thought, and one I don't think I've seen elsewhere. Would the same apply to the uprated BGM stators I wonder? Not quite as powerful obviously. but would they cause more fuel to be burnt over a standard Indian stator, for instance?

Not likely as they don't put out 120w, more like 80-90w :?
Turn On, Tune In, Cop out!
Ian Hepworth

Would this be the same one Mark Broadhurst helped design over 5 years ago and Electrex went and copied his development ideas and suggestions and every other dealer got them first.................... funny how the people in the know, know a little bit more about history before anyone else does, like 5 years earlier.

Talk about being ripped off!

This is why Mark is working on two new systems AC/DC and with fixed curve and fully adjustable curves as well.

I think I was told a little of the details of who was originally involved when they were first being put into production along with some of the original teething problems, and Mark Broadhursts name was mentioned along with two other names... Although, I don't know the full details...
