This looks quite good, it should be able to run extra lights etc and still have juice to spare. Bit pricey though

I know that the external pick-ip is used on LML's and someone on here was wanting one(Jimms?), but won't having the pick-up on the out side case problems due heat and the exposure of the location, plus there would have to be longer wires to the pick-up, which may cause issues, ie warm wire end at stator and cold wire end at pick-up. Just a thunk...
That's not going anywhere...
looks like the readspeed /electrex one

surely it's still under the flywheel though ? looks like you could adjust the timing without removing the flywheel ? neat.dirtyhandslopez wrote:... won't having the pick-up on the out side case problems due heat and the exposure of the location...
be good if it did keep a battery topped up whilst running lights and pathfinders, unlike the BGM / ebay single phase rectifier conversion I've just finished...

Probably because they both use stators off far eastern machines (hopefully Japanese).mark wrote:looks like the readspeed /electrex one
Although some times you need a bit more power, don't forget that unlike an alternator these will be kicking out that power whether you are using it or not. So when you are not using the 200-240W you will be using more fuel to produce electricity that is just dumped as heat. A bit like driving around in a car with the air con on and all the windows open.

Ive got one of these Its a readspeed one or the same as. Its three phase with auto retard and that one has a regulator (or is it rectifier
) so its DC

When i was young my Mom said "if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing at all " ..................... and people wonder why I'm quiet around them !

No, at least the Stella's(LML's I have seen) it is on the outside.byron wrote:surely it's still under the flywheel though ? looks like you could adjust the timing without removing the flywheel ? neat.dirtyhandslopez wrote:... won't having the pick-up on the out side case problems due heat and the exposure of the location...

Good thought on the set up robbing power from the motor when the lights aren't on Firekdp. I bet there's a calculaon out there somewhere that can show the amount of power it will rob.

Too many coils to me and that could increase the chance of a problem IMO.
