Have a Lined TS1 225 that has not had a boost port cut into the inlet
idea is to use mitaka TS250 pistons as they are cheap as chips for the quality on a 115mm rod with 18mm small end which I have in 58mm and 60mm strokes
will have no issues with ring pegs, then drop the timings down to stage 4 and run it on a clubman with a 30mm phbh
will not run 360deg timing on the inlet but cut the piston to run 150degs
idea is to replicate a trials bike power output and run high gearing to compensate
with all timings aiming to peak at 6500 rpm
any thoughts
power ported TS1

I think I'd let it breath - it could be a bit of a lose/lose situation, where you have little of the benefits of variable inlet timing, but a big restriction in the tract.davidblythe wrote:Have a Lined TS1 225 that has not had a boost port cut into the inlet

I'd be tempted to use a windowed piston, but use a modest sized carb ........ nothing bigger than 28mm; and then combine that with an Agusto or similar.

i doubt that you could get inlet timing that low....on that.
sounds like a waste of a TS1 kit to me ,with possibly no advantage to you....
but let us know how this all works out...

ts250 73mm, bottom of inlet 99mm, -1mm deck clearance 157degs with sensible exh 175 and tfr 122
so you are right sean 155 not possible
no deck clearance and it comes down but exhaust and tfrs pushed far too high

theres nothing too lose any way,
if it doesnt work convert the piston to 360 degs and cut a boost port in something to do over the winter

I would be looking along the lines of Avantone's approach to this...

i cant help but think dave that you would be far better off with a 250 kit from AF
or a cast 240 kit..
