Hi Spud
I thought so, this is the same problem I had at the start.
All I did was to take the float bowl off and cut the little float stop off as low as i could allowing for as much downward float travel as possible and then refit it. When it fills it may need a tap to release the float again initially but once filled will never be an issue. I did this and it's perfect now, I had it wide open many at time for over 2 years now and have had no issues at all.
TBH I'm glad it did as this carb is really smooth and a joy to use and set up once sorted, so hang in there.
Best Regards

Chris

As an aside, do you have an air filter on it. Just thinking of air flow to the carb if it's been restricted or blocked somehow? A reason the old series 1 frame breathers were changed was because a coat or luggage was blocking the air intake and they would just cut out. :|
