Hiya, I posted this on the LCGB website. The firm I mention were great for my valves and might be willing to help out with your tubeless rims...

One or two people have had problems with valves on their ScootRS tubless rims.

Mike (soulsurfer) suggested the Demon Tweeks valves, which are much better. I had them fitted at a motorbike tyre shop - HGB Motorcycles - in Ruislip, north London, just off the A40 and about 3-4 miles down from the M25 turnoff.

The guys there couldn't be more helpful and I would strongly recommend them to anyone in the area. The process involves letting the tyre down, pushing it to one side of the rim, removing the old ScootRS valve and pulling through the Demon Tweeks one.

They charged me £1 plus VAT per tyre (I supplied the valves), because the old bloke who ran the shop used to sell Lambrettas in the 60s and we had a great chat. They may charge a couple of quid more if they realise there's a lot of demand but well worth it for peace of mind. The valves themselves cost about £3.50 each. I suspect it's also a great place to have new tyres fitted on ScootRS rims.

When I spoke to the feller, I suggested to him that he might consider stocking the valves himself, plus a selection of 10" tyres and scooterists would probably travel a fair few miles for excellent and fast service (they sorted six of mine out in 1 hour).

You don't need to change the valves at all. You can just as easily get a random one from elsewhere that has a problem.

The lcgb has a sticky with a list of shops that mounted tires on these.

thanks randel, i had asked the same question on the lcgb but could not remember where i had seen the info nic provided.

new valves dont break the bank and the deemon tweeks ones are very good quality.....prevention is better than cure......so i would rather the best than take a chance of failure.

I have had one failure from the rims i bought from you already and although not a hazard it still cost the price of a new rim to resolve once I had used some foam repair in order to not miss a ferry, then the hassle of changing then the repair itself.

its about time there was a scootrs fitting tool? :P

If you go here: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... BIKVLV10CH" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You'll come to a drop-down menu: the option to go for is the last on the list: the 90 degree valve, priced at £3.49 including VAT.

Hiya Spud.

I got mine from the same place as Cezeta, after the one on my ScootRS rim (bought from a reputable UK dealer, to whom no blame attaches for this problem) started to leak air in a fairly alarming fashion.

Of course, as has been suggested, it could all have been down to my imagination and the whistling sound I heard came from Little Dave, the Chirpy Toothless Cocker-nee who lived down the end of my street at the time.... ;)

Cezeta, happy for you matey! They've upped the price a bit, but they're top fellers....
