Five speed Gearboxes.

I know that back in the 80’s I think, you could get hold of these, however I assume they where not very successful. My question is why can’t one be produced to provide better performance for a Lammy?

basically you'll have 5 "areas" on which to keep the scooter on the power rather than 4.
I understand the 5 speed boxes were too thin leaving breakages on the gears and the Xmas tree.

With the recent usage of "cryo" freezing parts, would this not combat the breakage issue? There must be a larger market for these now more than any other time?
