Hi, I'm so pleased that after all these years, about 30, that I went back to scootering. Having replaced most of the electrics on my SX200 including flywheel, it now seems that the 40p worth of steel on the end of the crank doesn't like it's new home as it's a tadge too big in the slot. This meens that the lovely new flywheel wont stay in place and make pretty sparks at the correct time. Is there an alternative to replacing the crank with a GP one? I think it was my LD back in the 60's that my dad welded the thing to the crank and filed it nice and smooth, must have taken him ages, I think I was down the pub at the time... ;)

I assume your talking about the Woodruff key being a bit too big to fit in the keyway? Just file it down a bit, BUT MAKE SURE IT IS A SNUG FIT

No not quite, oh if it was so simples, the slot in the crank shaft is too big and worn so the key keeps slipping and letting the flywheel move out of place :(

Unless its fallen victim to bodgery, if the keyway is knackered its probably not the only thing on the crank thats had it. A new crank and bearings is probably what's required. You can still buy li/sx cranks although people tend to swap to a GP one because the taper is more robust.

I think that somewhere along the line there has been some bodging done, probably just before I bought it. The key way is really worn so it looks like a GP crank is the order of the day plus a new fly wheel again as they don't appear to be compatable, maybe I could put the flywheel on e bay, only done about 20miles since it was replaced. Quoted £400 so far, nice Christmas present...
