Sounds perfect since i want it to pull my Li150 box and 18-46
the kit market is divided into two

1. the ts1, rb and super monza will be much more aggressive kits. so if the man with the cash wants something near cr250 power then the rb is the ts1 rb monza is the best route.

2. the rt255 kit will be nice but more civilized compared to the multi port options so its horses for courses, it competed head to head with traditional tuning, rapido, mugello ect

then there is the dac which i think is only let down by the fact that none of us really know where to start with it so prefer the ease of an engine that just bolts in.

i think there is room for another market too and thats the gt186 big block. or the rt with a reed valve, the type of engine that is reasonably tame but highish power to with lots of grunt, small carb and clubman/expansion hybrid. to suit the high milage tourers that want a modern feel without the "race" element and sticker kits
Nick. The super monza will NOT be an agressive kit. I have tried to explain the idea behind this kit to you already. Its a high performance TOUR kit. You seem to know a lot about these kits that you have yet to see or test..including marks RT255. I dont know what the intention for that one is tbh but I do know that the Super Monza is NOT a race type kit.
And why do you think that because a kit has multi-port it will not be civilised? You must of had bad experience with tuners in the past!..

Please feel free to ring for a quote but include what you require performance wise from your engine and exactly what you are after with the set up.

out all the tuners/builders i would use stuart because he did a mates rb (menace ) and rob doesnt stop raving bout it ,he has done a lot of miles this year and is very impressed .
as a side note my dac has only cost in the region of 3,500 to finish  ,admittedley i have got some parts dirt cheap and called a few favours in but thats not a lot of money for a excellent touring motor that will go mental at the twist of a throttle .

Thought your new MB TS stump pulling tour tune would be far from aggressive? Is it still in the aggressive category? ( Any Graph ;) )What experiance do you have of the super Monza have you ridden one was it aggresive as you say??

Surely the Rt255 will be built to whatever the customer wants whether a low reving rally tune or a zippy semi race tune??

I only know what you have told me tony, you said it can be tuned to be a tourer or a racer I dont argue this. And no I have not seen it apart from in the pictures of the prototype and what camlam say they expect from it. Its also on You Tube. 30-40 bhp?

I was referring to the demographics of buyers not the kits. The post I was responding to was by my brother so i know where he falls and so I know his taste in motors is not along the lines of the RB which I have test ridden at JB tuning and so has he and we both dismissed it.

I have owned or ridden or put together all of the kits apart from the ones that have not yet been released. I can even reach and touch a mugello, a GT190 kit and a tuned iron barrel from where i am sitting :? I have a ts1 in the shed ......if there is one thing Im not short of and that's scooter crap littering my house. I have obviously seen the RT kit as its something I am considering buying so I have had lengthy discussions with Mark about it and his target market and had some of its benefits added to my ts1.

So that leaves the super monza, sadly its not for me as i have a battery tray which i intend on keeping but i thought it was a good alternative to the ts1 and rb. A monza 240 was an option i considered when I tested the rb v the ts1. The battery tray was in my mind when I said about a big block gt kit or rt with a reed.

Its all a compromise so its down to the individual to work out where that compromise is to be..

Adspeed, I have had it de tuned so bhp wise anything around 20 I guess. I wouldn't say aggressive....it was a bit with the af flywheel but with the lightened indian one its silky. I don't mind aggressive but the motor you refer to is in a series 1 which if im honest I struggle to shout at aggressively let alone ride aggressively with bouncy saddles and sit up and beg riding position.

Im in no hurry to dyno it as the carb is pretty much spot on so i need to put some miles on it before i have it dynoed then you can criticise the ass out of it dont worry :smug:

whats the big upset about the word aggressive? 30 - 40 bhp from a reed motor that provides power from pull away with 25 lb of torque is reasonably aggressive power compared to piston ported kits putting out 15-25bhp.

my girlfriend would be happy for example riding a 15-20bhp bike but would be intimidated by a 35bhp bike....infact she crash an rm250 and shattered her knee so I dont think she would even go in the garage with one anymore.

so there is an example of the two demographics of potential buyers, I cant tolerate the frustration of lack of power with say a rapido/mugello set up but she is happy with a tamer engine.

the point of demographics is so you dont pitch the wrong product to the wrong buyer which I thought my brother was doing in his excitement of throwing his cash around.

I think I have experiences of kits off the shelf and fast road tunes, Its pretty hard to pick any one kit that ticks all the boxes.

As most kits are never fitted as standard, having many variants on what should be a standard kit; Choice of piston, head Compression and squish, ignition, carb, Flywheel weight, Expansion chamber, Inlet, Carb, etc...

This is why I await the standard off the shelf Super Monza "The finished article" with no need to meddle to get the best from the kit, If the Hype is equal to the kit.

With Mr Edmonds name behind the development I don't expect it will fall far short, but I, as in other peoples post can talk about something I am not familiar with based on the information that's filtered through.

An engine can be high torque and have a high HP but still be ridable, if the power delivery has a smooth linear delivery, but capable of being faster when you decide to pull the throttle back.

One of my own earlier TS1s was fairly quick when first built with the throttle more like an on off switch than a speed control, It was nothing, so more throttle, still nothing, a little more throttle and then hanging on to the bars and slide down the seat. Not what I wanted for a smooth ride, 12 years of fine tuning my set up for a TS1, now gives me a ride that is not the fastest but smooth and ridable.
think If I was about to spend BIG money now on a high end kit, then at the moment I would probably hold fire and wait to see if the Super Monza is as good as the Hype, and if it is I would at least know before spending on something that might be second best.

the question is jims how long do you wait? its been a few years for both the rt kit and the super monza. that's a long time to be looking at everybody else riding their scooters while we wait

none of us are getting any younger :?

i agree with john. why buy a kit designed to give 16-20 bhp then tune it further when you could have bought the kit that gves you the performance you were after of the shelf.

in contrast why buy an ts1/rb/super monza when really you just wanted a reliable upgrade with a filtered carb and clubman on your otherwise stock sx200

its all in the demographics :P
