I recently bought a set of Conti Twist tyres and looking at them I notice that they are directional. So now I'm thinking, which one do I use as a spare?

have the spare setup as a rear
more likely to get a rear puncture and the rear tyre will wear quicker anyway

Either
1. Which tyre do you usually get punctures in and fit tyre for that one or...
2. Buy an S83 (block tread to use on either) or.....
3. Just fit it to any wheel in the event of a puncture, (it doesn't make too much difference at moderate speeds). I did and still do.
Just make sure that the tyre is fitted the correct way at the earliest opportunity...............

I think I've only ever had the one puncture actually and that was on the back. I suppose I'm lucky. But, I think both answers might be usefully employed in that case.

I don't have the problem as I use Tyre Slime(sealant) and don't carry a spare

I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.

I don't have a problem. Both my wheels rotate the same way!

I should explain that the tyres I have arrows in both directions. There's one arrow for the front, but then you have to turn the tyre around for it to go on the rear. Obviously you can only put the wheel on the one way, so if I have a spare front then it's going to be backwards if the rear goes. I hope that makes sense. Acting on advice I think the best bet might simply to use a different spare, or failing that take it steady as rog suggested.
This sounds strange.
do you have to turn the wheel w/ the rim ofcourse, around to fit it to the rear?
I thought both front and rear mounts the same way.
So directional tires wont do????

I'll get down the shed and take a picture of the offending arrows I think.
Here you go.....

A picture speaks a thousand words.

I think the biggest problem here is your choice of tyre! It's possible to buy directional tyres that both rotate the same direction front or rear. Therefore making the spare suitable for either end.
Your tyre choice just makes an (in my view) unnecessary complication.
