I'm in the same boat mate - what I'm doing is 71mm wiseco H2 piston but depends on the damage - other pistons are available, there's probably an MB one that's perfect if you don't want to change the rod.

Sounds Familiar that..:

I contacted these: http://www.pjme.co.uk/acatalog/Cylinder ... eving.html
They have said they could re-sleeve the barrel for £120.00 +vat to suit self supplied piston.
So for less than the cost of a new kit you could have a potentially solid kit afterwards with plenty of re-bore scope if required.
I am going to get mine done sometime in the near future- I'm looking for a suitable piston first though....anyone??

The rings shouldnt catch as easily if you fit a decent piston after its sleeved that uses good quality wire rings as they can span the exhaust port with greater internal strength.
I managed to pick up a couple of Japanese pistons for two of my own barrels today, both pistons complete with rings cost me only £45. one is a TS 250 Suzuki 70mm piston for £10, which I will fit to my Rapido when its re-lined, most Probably use a Vespa APE rod, 60mm stroke crank.
The other piston was an (ART) Yamaha IT 175, 66.25mm for £25 & Genuine rings for £10... I bought the Yam piston off an Irish guy on the outside pitch, he had a couple of boxes of Genuine Yamaha pistons (ART) he must have had 60 maybe 80 pistons for sale, all in original boxes for £25 each.
I asked if he had any rings for them, said he had left most of them back at home with the other two boxes of pistons...
