whats the difference between these kits as im picking up a 225 race kit very cheap and im hoping to get it put on to the 200?
anything to watch out for i was told they drop rings but spoke to a pal whos run one for over 7 years wi no issues at all
it will be built by a proper spanner man
rapido race vs classic
the 'race' one has higher timings. Some say too much inlet timing. My experience with them is as race motors only and so we didnt use the orig piston-so cant help on that side. We used the 'classic' kit and not the 'race' one tho to get the timings we wanted.

I would agree with Tony the Classic Rapido gives pleanty of scope for usable port timings and with a quality piston could be very good. I think the Suzuki RM or TS pistons might be a good choice for the Rapido barrels.

I believe that the main transfer ports are more prone to short-circuiting (fresh charge goes straight out the exhaust port) on the Race. The classic does not suffer as much from this problem.

If you build it with a piston with full skirt length rather than the shortened item that AF supplied the inlet timing is much better. The ports all need properly chamfering and it doesn't harm them if you follow this by polishing the chamfers. This will ensure you don't go down the dropped ring route.
