If lambrettas made in the 60's had zink plated adjusters then the plating must have been quite poor and wore off quickly. When I got my first lambretta back in 69 it was already 10 years old and I'd bet money that the adjusters had no obvious plating on them. Same goes for the 63 TV200 and numerous others I owned back then. The ones on my 67 Lis 125 were also brass with no visible signs of plating.

...and a strong left to the head by Zinc. Brass appears to have been staggered after a strong start. But then immediately returns with a solid jab at Zinc. What a battle these two are putting on tonight!

......you are talking 7yrs of flaking and wearing inferior coated parts between you own particular model and new, if the zinc plate wore of it would look horrible so it was taken off, that`s why you can`t see any evidence on an old adjuster, you probably know but it flakes off it does not wear off smoothly, probably due to the cheap and cheerful process of applying the zinc, i can remember the plugs wearing yellow on my bike due to the spanner on the hexagon but the brake adjuster flaked because of all the salt in the winter on our roads and down by the wheel........my 1964 brand new GT200 July model, definately had a zinc coated brake adjuster knob despite what anyone says, and as i said before the filler plug and the level plug were the same, my mates used to sit for hours getting the zinc plate off......i know as i was there.....i never bothered with mine as i was into the tuning of my scooter.......it was strange to see three bright yellow parts on the gearbox alloy casing......anything went then to make the bike look more pretty......one of my mates who had a GT, had copper plated side panels, and even chucked his fibre glass mudguard in the bin to have the metal one plated in copper......nowadays you would give your right arm for an original fibre glass mudgaurd......things have changed now..... as i said before brass is self lubricating and because of the thread friction or whatever and the right colour to match the alloy, the originals were zinc coated, any threaded part that is continually removed or screwed in has to be of a material that will not harm the alloy threads, that is why brass is used ........why hasn`t anyone mentioned the plugs as these are part of the actual threaded parts that are removed or adjusted on the crankcase?........All three items were zinc coated originally........

ok, folks.
here are some other indices why it was brass covered with zinc:

1. http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... italian-gp
(says " Also available for Series 1, 2 & 3 with zinc plated brass wheel "

2. speedo bush was also brass zinc plated

3. old swiss innocenti-dealer confirmed it

i bet 1 set of good quality remade adjusters that they are plated brass...

ps: anorak 101 % original specs tv/gt fibre glass mudguards will be available soon.

the early adjusters were brass later ones were steel zinc plated cause they shine and were cheaper, cant see why they would zinc plate brass!

...and a 3rd fighter has climbed into the ring! It's now a cage match with Steel Zinc.

I don't think what SR has on their site is relevant to what was original. In any case, they also have a brass one listed alongside their zinc plated one.

I'm not an LCGB member, so if someone could repost the original post on their anoraks forum, it might help.

You see what a nightmare it is trying to make these dinky little parts correctly for you guys? And just imagine all the pennies we'll make on selling 172 of them next year
