we'll soon find out!

Have to get a new ignition switch. Mine's dead, so I'll have to wait 'til I get a new one.

Any news on this? Did it work?

Byron which tacho did you use, a white face one or black face with oil light, or will they both work?

Embarassingly not yet.

I got a battery of a friend some time ago, but I've only recently put a new ignition switch on.

I've been very distracted recently by matters outside of scootering which have got me troubled and a task like this needs my upmost attention. (Sounds like a cop out, suppose it is but I will have this done soon). When I have done it, I'll post on this thread. :)

either, I have used both types, as well as a white faced one with oil light, but both may need calibrating to read accurately once the electrics are sorted.

Thanks Byron.
How are they calibrated, can they be recalibrated to suit a different scale on a different face?

What diameter are they?

Sounds to me like this tacho is designed for battery points ignition and is probably designed as an add on for a car,

red and black will go to the dc power feed, the red is switched of when not using the bike (to save the battery)

the green as said goes to the neg side of the coil or to the points live feed (on a battery system).

I suspect that you may have problems using this tacho on an electronic system as you can not connect directly to the coil on the systems used on scooters (check out the electronics used on aramachi/ harley davidson trials bikes, those systems have a system that can be used on scotters but the coil is seperate from the thyrister stuff)

it may be easyer to find another tacho. I have used the old krober types with vespa sytems by connecting the two wires to the charge coil conections at the electronic box (much simpler but a bit bigger)
