Thinking of welding shortned rear runners to the legshields. Any one done this before, and if so any advice as best way to do it? Want to try and make sure I can still acess the stand bolts but am also aware that may need to put some strengthing on the bottom of the weld... :?

also any tips on the best way to fix the running strips would also be greatfully accepted... :D have seen somewhere somone used vespa ones?

firstly clean all the paint off .then attach leg shields and runners and align .when you are happy then tack weld in four or five places.remove leg shields .and weld in small segments in different areas ie leftside then right as well as turning up side down.this keeps the heat to a minimum and stops the metal from warping and keep refitting to check every think is aligning.another tip is to have a damp cloth and wipe gently over the weld to keep the leg shields from warping .weld under neath and you should nt have to reinforce. try not to use filler .use2k primer filler with a little activator.flat back.repeat until your happy .another tip spray some black areosol over the filler so there is just speckles allow to dry .when flatting back it will show the high and low areas .so you know where to apply the next loading of filler. if your not to sure on your welding pratice on some scrapmetal the same thicknes.thatway youcan set the welder up to your requirements :) good luck

Lam they loook the nuts, and just the way i want to go. Are they PX runners you used, and does the outside one fit okay on the lipped side? Also did you bother carrying the lip round on the curved part of the new bit?
