Rapido rings

I read lots of chatter about changing rings in Rapidos every 1,000 miles or so. I have about 1,800 miles on my recent Rapido225 build and it's running strong. Do these wear rings out that quickly? Are people responding to a drop in compression by installing new rings?

I changed mine when the performance dropped off, the end gap was near to 1mm or 40 thou... The scooter gets ridden at near to full throttle so ring life is probably being compromised... but the 200 rapido I used to have faired a little better around 2-3000 miles before the end gap got excessive... Ive used the same asso pistons in stage 4 SIL, Italian and Spanish barrels and the rings lasted alot longer...

Could the wear be related to some of the Rapido's having a tighter than usual bore?
