Is their anyway off testing a stator plate to see if its knackerd or not??? cheers
Without specialist gear you can only do continuity checks to ensure that the coils aren't open circuit and that their earth connections are good. If these checks read OK, then as long as the coils are in visibly good condition, no charring or damaged enamal, they should work fine.
If it's an electronic the readings for the feed coil and pick up are in Sticky's book, but measure the pick up in reverse polarity as well, the readings should be the same in both directions.

I never knew that, that would explain why when I tested my mates pickup it teasted fine - even though it needed changing, the last bloody thing we changed too due to me assuming it was ok because it tested okbut measure the pick up in reverse polarity as well, the readings should be the same in both directions.

You live and learn...
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....
