I have been doing a bit more to Dans barrel tonight and its not far of finished I have finished of putting the rest of the ports in the back of the cylinder, I must say it looks pretty impresive when you look at it with a piston in place at bdc (Iam sure that Dan will have some pics up soon when he comes over to have a look at it :o :o ) one of my biggest wories is the piston as I have done this mod using the STD piston with those big fat rings, cos the ring pegs point forward and won't foul on the rear ports I have also kept the ex port width within its tolerance to help the rings stay together also with the feed's to the new ports I have kept them as tight as posible so they are as gentle to the rings as posible, at the end of the day this is a test barrel and will be alterd if required to gain max power and reliability as we can maintain, I know that the std pistons are sh1t I didn,t have any other to use Dan is talking about using a modern piston with thiner rings my only concern is where the ring pegs are located will they foul in the ports that I have put in if so it is back to the drawing board and re locate the ports   (these things are set to try us :) :) ) I will keep you all posted with the progress of the work.

Cheers
Mick.

Cylinder coming along, still needs a bit of tidying and chamfering, but Mick is doing a sterling job:

20hp @ 8500 on the dyno should be possible - that's the sort of figures people can manage with rotary Polini 135 Vespas and the Lammy has a less restrictive inlet.

Would be a good idea to find a better piston now though as Fishi says.
