Not come across this one before....
Getting an Indian GP 150 running, bit of a starting problem, timing done with strobe, inclinometer, and everything else associated, compression over 100,fresh fuel, tidy plug, fab spark, clean 22mm Jetex, all good to go.
About 40 kicks later, not a glimmer, opens up carb, and the red tipped float needle has turned to a marshmallowy type consistency :? :? .
Ok,clean all carb journals again, and await new float needle.
Needle duly arrives, and is fitted, but due to more pressing matters, the scoot is left for a couple of weeks before resuming the getting running malarkey.
Anyway, this morning, straight out the garage, check spark...all good, check fuel flow,...all good,so here we go......25 kicks and bugger all :x ,strip carb again, and the tip of the needle is mush again.....
Any ideas? :(

The float needle is common to the SH & VHB range that most of us will be familiar with.

Simply due to the age of all the genuine Dell'Orto's that I have, then I will fit replacement tipped float needles, even though the 'deterioration' of nitrile in modern fuels is not as drastic (yet) as some say it is......in my own experience.

That said, I bought several @ the same time from Scootopia.

(They have been fine in a VHB that has been modified for two stroke Venturi up stands, atomisers & needles robbed from the PH range.....IMHO two strokes shouldn't have round slides, hence the SH range. Whatever 'our' opinions, my Rapido 70 x 61 is fuelled very well by the set up, which is important to me. The engine needs to be civilised as well as able to stomp along)

Anyway, those float needles are black tipped :?
