Powder coat is applied after sandblasting. Its applied dry to bare metal and then melts in the oven. It is very hard wearing and a fair bit cheaper than a "proper" paint job. However the paint finish lacks depth of shine and unless the metal is in good condition it can look a bit rough as you cant use filler.sydduckett wrote:simon,
can you tell me what the difference is between powder coat and a respray. Like you i want to go for a white. Is powder coat more hard wearing and does it produce as good a finish as paint? Also is it more expensive?

most people just get the frame, forks, rims and internal bits like cowlings and tanks coated.
