whats causing this?

Was doing a plug test (black) when i noticed that the cooling fins were a white colour from the back to nearly the front. It comes off when rubbed and then goes powdery? Had only been out for a short blast so im not sure if it has been this way for a while or not. fisrt time i have been out since sunday when i done about 80 miles and did give it some welly.. :o
its an AF RB kit and is running well at the mo. does anyone know whats causing this and is it anything i need to worry about?

Battery overflow tube floating around the cylinder, leaking, causing the acid to eat the aluminium?
How come phonetics isn't spelt with an 'f'?

To me, there seems to be a small hairline crack in the cowl at the top left corner of the air outlet??

Just checked and there is about a 1 cm crack in the angle of the cowelling. I may be being thick but why would this cause the fins to go white. Like i said you can scrape it off back to the metal...

Its a non-batt model and its kept garaged, did give it a good wash on sunday though and may have ben a little over zelous when cleaning round case and tins..Would water cause this to happen?

quite probably. I believe the cowling remark was just an observation, rather than suggesting a cause as to your whiteness. stainless steel is it ?

Yeah its stainless, read the first post wrong as in head cracked...panik over
