I've got the above top end kit with a LTH reedvalve that I had on a Servetta Series 80 200cc. At the time it ran with a 30PHBH and a PM tuning expansion exhaust. I really wasn't expecting too much and the reality, was lack lustre. But that may be down to wrong mix of pipe and carb and me not having the patience to tune things in properly. Anyway, some years ago I swapped out the engine and put in a spare TS1.

But in the next few months I'm building a GP200, which I'm going to keep relatively standard. However, it does not have a top end, therefore, I'm considering putting the Rapido top end on. My only reason is that i have it (keeping costs down) and its run in.

Keeping it standard, I'll probably go for a BGM or Gori pipe and match it with the correct carb. Note, it will be standard Italian 200 gear box and standard fuel tank

Question is, what is the best carb to go with this cylinder and exhaust and is there any benefit in someone tweaking the ports.

I know the GT200 would be a better option, but that kit will be going on another engine.

Really depends what was done to the porting when the reed valve was fitted. Was the exhaust timing increased? Was a boost port added to the inlet port? Was the piston modified for 360 degree inlet timing?

Thanks for feed back so far. Yes, piston skirt was cut for reed valve. No additional porting had been done and no additional boost port either.

maybe not having any boost port caused the lack of performance, as will no other tuning to the exhaust or inlet, that sounds like your next step to me.

Next step is getting back from Ilkey tonight. Last night it was a struggle from Keighley. But this week will sort out additional porting

As Holty said, you really need to do the other mods otherwise you're just putting a big obstruction in the inlet tract! (Well, slight exaggeration, but you get my drift  ). I did the reed valve conversion on my Rapido 225, took the exhaust port timing to 185 and widened slightly, enlarged the inlet and added a boost port. I use a 30mm PWK copy and the TSR evo and the scooter goes really well! I used the MB shorty reed setup but I imagine the LTH should be similar.

Oh, and I also cut holes in the piston as well as cutting the skirt.

I did nothing on my 225 Mugello barrel when I fitted an Atomic small reed [very similar to LTH] apart from fitting a Pro Porting TS1 piston. It transformed it. With ADS3 exhaust, 4.7 gearing and Mikuni TMX27, goes up most inclines in 4th.
