What is the best procedure for running in? I know about varying speeds etc but was more interested on hearing total miles required, oil type, oil ratio.
I'll be running in a rapido if it matters
Cheers chaps

Nearly run mine in now, standard sil 200..4% Rock oil synt..Oil change @ 250 miles (rock ST) just to be nosey to find out if anything was happening..IT WAS..long story..checked cleaned plug every 50 miles again just being nosey..every 100 miles started pushing it a bit more..seems to be fine SO FAR..
Ricspeed, gone but never forgotten RIP my friend #59
Built 6 Rapidos upto now. Two were mine, the 225 I ran gently for first hundred to settle the engine down... then head re-torqued...
On my 225 I took it easy keeping below 50 for next 200 miles with ocasional blips just to vary the speed a little.... after 500 miles on the 225 I was up to about 60mph and it had loosened up alot...
The 200 felt a little tighter... At first...
I had the barrel in a draw as it had originally "seized when first fitted" this was one of the first 200 Rapidos... I took it back off the scooter and had it honed then left it in a draw for a while... But about a week before the Euro (Germany) I decided to put the 200 back on...
I fitted it two days before the Euro and only managed 10 miles before setting off for Germany... I ran it in going to the ferry for Hull 120 miles, Keeping it under 50, and keeping my hand over the clutch... then when we got off the ferry I just sat at whatever speed everyone else was doing... Couldnt seize it if I tried... ran it on Rock oil at 4% same on the 225 4% the 200 Rapido had done about 1200 miles maybe a little more by the time we got back...

Buy one of those running in stickers that you stick behind the legshields that Lambrettas had when new,it was ok then.
I always run mine in round country roads but but give the motor some beans. After about 400-500,ive always concidered it run in and never had a problem.Used the same oil (semi synthetic) mix as i would normaly use.
