Gearing set up.

Just getting the t.v 175 3 ready it has a Mugello 186,Scootopia 42mm ancillotti,Dellorto 26 phbh carb,i want the gearing so it pulls up hills,would a 16x46 be better than 14x47,it has the original tv box, not so bothered about top end speed,any thoughts appreciated.

Tv175 standard 46x15 is 4-82 and was always good with the 175 but 46-16 is 4-52 getting quite tall 47×15 is 4-92 witch might be better

Why not leave it standard ? About the best gearing set up you can have for your needs.

14 x 47 = 5.28 final drive.
15 x 47 = 4.92 final drive.
15 x 46 = 4.80 final drive.
I'd opt for keeping the 14 x 47, it should go up anything in top gear with that ratio.
You [everybody] should download and learn to use the Lambretta gearbox visualiser by Tony Cassidy, it's a great bit of kit and tells you far more than just a series of numbers that may or may not mean much too you. You can see how the gears overlap according to the revs and you can compare 2 different gearbox set ups side by side.
