How do these work then? Are they used in conjunction with a new rim? I can't see how they'll work with a standard rim. Am I just being dim?

Still don't get it. Why have 8 fixing points if you only use 4? The picture shows 8 studs and obviously with a standard rim you only need 4 studs. I'm confused.

They are producing an 8 stud rim which is part of the strength PLUS the ribbing on the inside but you can still use as 4 stud

When you shear one or two studs, you just rotate the wheel onto the spare set. Result!

not really, as then you have to carry the spare studs.
I think the issue here is someone has invented yet another item thats come from fear mongering.
Its near 300 quid, plus you need a special layshaft plus a special bearing, basically all to get rid of the cone setup. What a load of shite. nearly £500 quid when a 40 quid uni hub, sil layshaft and casa bearing are all about 20% of that!

Ooops misread the site, thought that it was 240 for the hub alone but thats a kit with it and layshaft and bearing.
Still far dearer than the normal stuff.

I like the idea of 8 fixing points and the fact that original Innocenti layshafts are getting on a bit and with SIL quality sometimes dubious ( add in the fakes ) so the new shafts are a step toward imo. If the rims are tubeless I may invest in a complete kit. For say less than £300 for everything it's not a lot for safety and peace of mind.
