running an original carb and casa exhaust set up on my series 2 Tv175. Also an engine rebuild 1500 miles ago. It runs great but I feel the standard set up is holding it back. It runs along at 50-55 mph comfortably on the flat but starts to die on any kind of incline. Looking to invest in another carb and exhaust for that little more pull on the inclines. What would the recommendations be?

what carb is on there at present? The standard S2? I'd be inclined to try an S3 carb (SH20) to get a comparison if it hasn't got one on already.

Use GP200 pilot, slide, atomiser, mixture 1.5 out and a 126 main to start with, shouldn't be to far off but check it to be safe

S2's had "MB5/7" carbs or something like that- they were crap anyway.Geocamper wrote:It's a standard series 2 sh/22 I think.
The carb for a S3 TV175 was a Delly 20mm (SH20)
I would imagine you've got a Jetex on yours then which are very hit and miss.
Can you post a pic of the actual carb on yours otherwise we could;d all be talking at cross purposes.

That's if it is a 2/22 carb.cranny wrote:Use GP200 pilot, slide, atomiser, mixture 1.5 out and a 126 main to start with, shouldn't be to far off but check it to be safe

then I would ditch that and invest in a carb and manifold off Series 3 TV175 if you don't want to go too radical. Do you have the narrow or the wide air scoop?Geocamper wrote:I have a Mb21 bs5 carburettor which is standard from new.
Jetting and slides are in Stickys book.

it would certainly be an improvement. You will need another air hose to fit, and I would be inclined to remove the air scoop entirely.
