Cheers Donnie.Donnie wrote:really?holty wrote:the bottom bearing has much bigger balls so is stronger, plus you can always add lots of balls and no cage, top however is made with very small balls so isnt as strong, probably aimed at scooters with a good front disc brake, and riders who ride faster, braking hard from high speed will put some load on them little bearings, as do bumpy roads and pot holes, its something i might use in the future
Cone steering bearing upgrade.

£60 plus £10 postage. I think I'll leave it.

I think the cost is excessive and would rather have seen a lower taper bearing set up. However if the cones and bearings are in good condition, greased and tightened properly I don't see the need for a taper set on a lambretta.
The top bearing is the one which takes all the braking force and its a good upgrade, the taper bearings themselves are about 25 quid.
I have em but I'm sick of spending money just now! Maybe next year.

as i suggested earlier a conversion aimed at a slightly higher performance market, my gp has over 50bhp and gets upto speed quickly, hence i do have to brake hard at times, and ive had to adjust the front cone a few times, thats why i will fit one of these when i have it apart, probably a bit overkill on a standard machine thats not ridden hard.Donnie wrote:Maybe im must not braking hard enough.![]()
