Be aware that most jeans or cargo pants that have kevlar layers only have it in small areas and you will still.have serious burns in an off. You can fully lined but of course pay more and they get rather sweaty.

I've had a pair of Hood jeans for many years. When on they look more like normal jeans as the Kevlar lining is not obvious like some other jeans. I do tend to wear them more on a cold wet day rather than hot as they are quite heavy. I've seen there's "new" material available today so anyone any experience of these.? Maybe a feature for Mortons?

I always thought double denim was a "Shakin Stevens" fashion faux pas - washed out trouser and jacket combo......... behind the green door!Knowledge wrote:I have a pair of armoured jeans. They are double demin (!) in all the right places, and have armoured pads in knees and on your arse (though I have removed the latter).
I appreciate that you don't want jeans, but the reason I mention this is that they have armour that is designed to absorb impact. Kevlar trousers might not tear or rip, but they have no extra impact protection. Frankly, if my knee is going to hit the ground at speed, I would prefer to be wearing half an inch of shock absorbing material rather than just a couple of millimetres of fabric.
Am I wrong? Are these cargo trousers not as I imagine?

This year I will mostly be wearing leather [but only on a Lambretta]. There are reasons why it's the only thing that bike racers wear. I also listen to Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and AC/DC [early years].
Debate is futile as many will continue to bury their heads in the sand and wear shorts, no gloves, flip flops and open faced helmets but it's their head and not mine.
What's going on here? Italian lightweights, suede moccasins, t-shirt and pilot jacket wool gloves and petrol station plastic gloves over them in the rain is all that is needed. I do recommend sunglasses or even a peak on your helmet if riding in the sun though, it does restrict the flow of air on your face slightly....but safety first.

I bought a pair of the Kevlar cargos (and a pair of Kevlar jeans for Ms EddieStone) from bikersgearuk as recommended by StevieW. Should be here tomorrow. Padded hips and knees, Kevlar lined. They look ideal for skateboarding too....
